It is no secret that Diablo LOD has been used for spiritual gaming since 1.08 -- many, many long years ago.

We have found the Diablo 2 game surprising well suited for the purposes of spiritual gaming. It is still a mystery as to the intention on the part of Blizzard in this regard. Even after interviewing the Bliz-folks at E3, the jury is still out on whether anyone at Blizzard had forethought or even knowledge of its use in spiritual gaming. For the moment, we take it as a happy accident and use it as long as it is available. Whether intentional or happy accident, it works great for our purposes.
